Affonso Salati

Raquel Salati, as a plant pathologist traveling worldwide to places like Guatemala, Mexico, Brazil, India, and Thailand observed firsthand that in these locations, some very basic needs are woefully lacking, such as proper sanitation and safe drinking water.  She felt extremely fortunate to be living in a country that is rich in educational and cultural opportunities, especially after observing the poverty and disease in other parts of the world. Raquel Salati’s vision was to start a foundation in her father’s name — Affonso Salati. She understood she cannot change the world with only good intentions. Action and financial assistance are crucial for the success of any foundation and its applications. Thus, the Water Foundation came to life.

We believe in unity

Our foundation is managed with a team approach which fosters participation and communication.  A spirit of service and our shared values, purpose and mission guide the allocation of financial, human, and material resources.  We are accountable for timely and functional implementation of projects that provide drinking water to those most in need. The Affonso Salati Water Foundation relies on careful selection of team members to develop trust within the organization and those we serve.  We aim to be flexible and free to utilize outside professionals.  Trust is therefore nurtured within and outside of our organization through adherence and enforcement of agreed upon ground rules and nurturing of core values.

Mission

To provide clean water for small towns and villages across the world where funds and infrastructure are not readily available, using simple, low-cost, efficient, and environment-friendly methods that can easily be replicated wherever needed, engaging all interested parts within communities.

Vision

To be a reference in the assistantship and development of projects related to access to clean water, reaching all regions of the world that need projects like ours, maintaining a firm commitment to the quality and durability of the projects carried out, the good use of the resources collected, and the preservation of the environment.
